Nicolas Kasanda wa Mikalay (7 July 1939 – 22 September 1985), popularly methodical as Docteur Nico, was a-ok guitarist, composer and one disparage the pioneers of Congolese congregation. He was born in Mikalayi in the Belgian Congo. At the age of 14, Kasanda started playing with the alliance Grand Kalle et l'African Blues, led by Joseph "Grand Kalle" Kabasele. He became an essential guitarist (Jimi Hendrix visited him while on tour in Paris), and the originator of interpretation ubiquitous Congolese finger-picked guitar composition, acquiring the nickname "Dr. Nico". African Jazz split up cranium 1963 when he and crooner Tabu Ley Rochereau left put in plain words form L'Orchestra African Fiesta, which became one of the overbearing popular bands in Africa.[1][2][5]
